FOR CHILDREN’S PRIMARY EDUCATION
Treasure
A non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, whose aim is to promote and support children’s primary education and health in developing countries and in regions affected by war, natural disasters and diseases.
Education
It is our responsibility that every child should know how to read, write and count, regardless of their origins, social background or income. Children’s basic needs, such as food and housing are necessary to give them an equal right to freedom, opportunities and security.
Fighting Poverty
Lack of education is one of the main reasons for poverty. Households managing on a subsistence level will have their children work to contribute to their family income. This will prevent children from getting a basic education. We give them the tools to break this vicious cycle.
Fighting Child Abuse
The lack of respect for children’s rights is widely known. By providing a basic education, we allow children to know their rights and that they need to be respected. We give them the means, knowledge and ability to fight and defend themselves from their environment.
Today
In most countries, it is compulsory for children to receive primary education, though in many jurisdiction it is not permissible for parents to provide it. Free primary school for all children is a fundamental right to which governments committed themselves under the 1989 Convention of the Right of Child.
But still over 20% of children aged between 6 and 11 years old do not have access to education. Among those 125 million of children, 75% are girls.
Our vision
Education is a basic foundation in nation building. To provide primary education to children, without violating their social customs and family traditions, reduces poverty, fights against children abuse, promotes concern for the environment and is directly linked to gender parity.
