FOR CHILDREN’S PRIMARY EDUCATION
Pomgaon’s school needs to have proper premises in order to welcome children :
Education is free for children who can attend, as the school is state owned and teachers fees are paid by the government. But premises are unfortunately very basic. The school has a 5 class rooms, with wooden desks and chairs and tube lights. Hygiene is very poor too, with only one toilet, which is broken and therefore not useable. The school has no electricity facilities. Only a small solar system is used, which does not produce sufficient energy for proper light for all. Students are therefore obliged to study at times under a lamp post near the Pomgaon village. Due to the low salaries paid by the government to the teachers, Marathi is the only language thought in school, no English. Students who can attend the school do not get a good primary education and their future suffers as they are not competent enough.
The school needs:
building and classrooms in proper condition
functioning toilets
drainage system
food facility
clean and safe dormitory
electricity and lightening
qualified teachers who can teach English
desks and chairs
